Should We Study Human Embryos Beyond 14 Days?

Ethics stories are my favorite stories. I am fascinated by the interplay between what we can do, what we should do, who gets to decide, and how those decisions matter. I especially like ones that poke a little at how we like to view ourselves and make us consider if self-conceptions as humans are valid. Plus, wow, human embryonic development is beautiful and fascinating, and the science is in that messy place where we know some big important things, but there's so much left to discover. The crux of this story is when do we become a PERSON. It's an debate we have had for decades and I loved being allowed to think and write about it. Much thanks to my editor who helped me, among other things, to pin down the story structure.
